Walking Tip: Walk Your Dog and You'll Both Lose Weight
The National Institute of Health reports that 64% of Americans are
obese. The American Veterinary Medical
Association reports that 25% of dogs and cats in
the Western Hemisphere are overweight. A study
done at the Bassett Research Institute in
Cooperstown, New York found that people who walk
regularly with their dogs lose weight more
weight than those that don't. You and I know all
this, but still we walk the dog out to the front
walk and back (approximately 50 feet round trip)
instead of "over the river and through the
woods" (words from Robert Frost's wonderful
poem. Did you know there is a
Robert Frost Trail you can walk?). Leash up
Pooch and get walking for happier, healthier
hearts and bodies in both of you.
